Andrew Schubkegel, MD

Andrew Schubkegel, MD

Dr. Andrew Schubkegel was drawn to medicine for the opportunity to combine his love of science with his desire to help people. He finds joy in his work by specializing in a dynamic area of the body that blends many different organs and systems, allowing him to offer a large variety of treatments. As an otolaryngologist, he is able to work with patients of all ages and treat a variety of conditions that affect the head and neck. He can help patients with general dermatological needs, sinus infections, cancers, hearing and smelling issues, cosmetic reconstructions, and many others.

Born and raised in the Chicago area, Dr. Schubkegel has spent most of his life in the Midwest. After attending Chicago Medical School and completing a residency in General Surgery at Brown University and Rhode Island Hospital and a prestigious fellowship in Otolaryngology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, he returned to the Chicago area to open his private practice. In practice since 1992, he has been treating the west suburban community.

While many doctors are joining larger practices, Dr. Schubkegel prefers to operate with the freedom to spend as much time as he needs with every patient. Managing his private practice allows him to stay with patients throughout the course of their entire treatment with him, rather than shuffling from one doctor to another. Patients who visit Dr. Schubkegel’s office work one-on-one with him all the way through their diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.

For Dr. Schubkegel, personalized interactions are an essential foundation for the success of any treatment. He asks a lot of questions and encourages patients to express their concerns completely and thoroughly, so he can individually customize his treatments. No two situations are the same, so Dr. Schubkegel works to treat the patient - not just the symptoms.

Personal Interests

Dr. Schubkegel is a family man. Outside of work, he mostly spends time with his amazing wife Michele, his two children, Grace and Nicholas, and their wonderful family dog, Daisy. He's always been a music lover - whether he's seeing it live, or playing it himself. Whenever he can, he tries to see the best live opera Chicago has to offer with his wife; when he's home, he often plays the piano.
